THOUGHTFUL CARE NEEDED |

"Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ." Galatians 6:2 |

Maisy had just become a Christian and joined the SDA church. She was 17 and lived with her mother and older brother both of whom disapproved of her faith and opposed her involvement with the church. It was only the loving support of the members and the care and encouragement of the Pastor and his wife that gave her the courage to hold to her new found faith. The Pastor and his wife had spent many hours studying with her and listening to her problems, giving counsel and practical help. Such love and friendship touched her deeply and she grew to love and trust them. One Sabbath Maisy found herself moved to tears during the service. Her heart was so full but a well-meaning member misunderstood what was happening and started to give advice about some of her home problems. Maisy was overcome by shame and too stunned to speak. Only the Pastor and his wife should know of these things. Because he wanted the church to understand her he had told them a little of her situation. He meant well but his failure to keep the confidences she had given to him almost turned her away from the church. Friendship is founded on trust and built with loyalty! |
