Day 6 |
SLOW BUT SURE |
|
|
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16 |
|
Jane was about six years old when she first heard that the seventh day was the true Sabbath. She had been arguing with her elder brother about on which day Christians should rest. Mocking her, he insisted that Sunday was the first day of the week and she was wrong to go to Sunday school anyway. Several different Christians played their part over the years teaching Jane about Jesus. Unnoticed she was laying the foundation for a happy life following him but she said nothing to anyone about her thoughts. The family moved several times and eventually went to live in the seaside town of Bournemouth, England where her brother found work with a local builder. One day her brother's employer walked into her home and gave her a Bible study! He pointed her to the ten commandments, described how the fourth had come to be neglected by Christians and talked for a long time about Jesus and his love. Jane was amazed how God had brought the argument full circle and as the man prayed she knew she must become a Christian. |

God is calling each of us, not usually in a dramatic way, but
just as surely as he called the prophets and apostles. Do you
believe that?
Read what Jesus asked for us in his prayer in John 17:20-24. "Not more surely is the place prepared for us in the heavenly mansion than a special place designated on earth where we are to work for God." E.G. White, Christ's object lessons p327. |

Father, thank you for teaching me your word. Help me to hear it and respond to it so that I can take my proper place in your work. |
