Day 4 |
FINDING GOD'S WILL |
"...whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight" (1 John 3:22). |
Hannah poured out her heart to God putting her request before him. God answered her prayer and the rest of the story shows how he was able to use Hannah's promise to him for the benefit of his people Israel. Does God always work like that in answer to prayer? In the sermon on the mount Jesus said "Ask and it shall be given you" (Matt. 7:7). In John 15:16 he told his disciples "whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it to you". Richard was a fine businessman. He had earned several promotions in his eleven years with the firm. Now his big opportunity had come. It was rumoured that he would shortly be invited to join the board of directors. There was another candidate but he was not as well qualified and had a reputation for using people for his own ends. Richard was sure he would get the job and so was bitterly disappointed when the other man was selected. He asked, what is the point of honesty and integrity if in the end you don't get what you want? |

How can you reconcile Richard's experience with those words
of Jesus in Matthew 7:7,8?
Look at Rev. 6:9,10. Do you think the plea here will go unanswered? What is the difference? Do you believe the promise of Psalm 1? |
Lord, please guide me in your ways that I may do what is pleasing in your sight. |
